As Gaeilge a labhair Bundee Aki agus é ag ceiliúradh an ‘Grand Slam’

As Gaeilge a labhair Aki san ‘huddle’ agus é ag ceiliúradh an ‘Grand Slam’

Bhí conspóid ann faoi na rialacha a cheadaíonn d’imreoirí nach de bhunadh na hÉireann iad imirt don fhoireann náisiúnta rugbaí.

Ach Dúirt Aki

‘I can’t control what people say. Their opinion is their opinion. I just control how I play, and how I perform on the field. That’s the only thing I need to do – impress the coaches and impress the players around me.’

Ach is cinnte tar héis an bua stairiúil a bhí ag Éireann agus Aki ag labhairt Gaeilge nach mbeidh aon chonspóid faoi é a bheith ag imirt níos mó.

Séasúr nua Laochra Gael, ina measc tá Henry Shefflin agus Mickey Harte

The definitive GAA sports series returns to TG4.  Filleann an tsraith shuntasach CLG seo ar TG4 san Earrach le leagan amach nua uair a’ chloig. Beidh cúigear pearsa CLG faoi chaibidil, daoine go mbeadh clár uaire de dhíth chun cothrom na féinne a thabhairt dá scéalta pearsanta, lán d’eachtraí corraitheacha.  Is fíor-laochra iad uilig agus a gcáil imithe rompu. Sa tsraith seo, áfach, gheobhfar léargas iomlán agus pearsanta orthu agus faoina ngaol lena spórt agus leis an saol mórthimpeall orthu. Insíonn an scéal spóirt na bun fíricí a bhí riamh i gceist i gcláracha Laochra Gael síos tríd na blianta, ach téann an tsraith nua seo píosa maith thar na línte bána. Meallfaidh na scéalta pearsanta an lucht féachana ar thuras nua agus ar chlúdach nua teilifíse CLG.

Seo h-iad na Laochra

Lar Corbett

Lar Corbett

D’fhág Lar Corbett cuid dena heachtraí ba mhó, ab fhearr, agus ba cháiliúla riamh inár gcuimhní ar an iomáint chomh-aimseartha. Sa spórt agus ina shaol pearsanta, áfach, faigheann agus fuair daoine é dodhéanta tuiscint a fháil air. Iománaí iomráiteach, scéalaí cumasach agus fiontraí ann féin, cíoraíonn an chéad chlár sa tsraith an enigma thar a bheith siamsúil sin, Lar Corbett.

Graham Geraghty

Fear lán le talann, fear as féin, fear dathúil agus fear teasaí anois agus arís, ba mhinic a bhí Graham Geraghty le feiceáil sna meáin thablóideacha sna 1990daí agus ag tús an chéid. Ó pheileadóir conspóideach agus iontach, go hoibrí sóisialta a bhíonn ag cuidiú le glúin óg caoi a chuir ar a saoil – tá aistear Graham – a bhí thuas seal agus thíos seal – lán d’eachtraí agus de scéalta suimiúla.

Ashling Thompson

All Star Camógaíochta, captaen buacach Uile Éirinn agus duine de dhíreach ceathrar lúthchleasaí Éireannach atá urraithe ag Red Bull, mainicín, abhcóide sláinte intinne agus grá geal na meán – ach bhí tráth ann gur fhéach todhchaí Ashling Thompson chomh dona sin nárbh ann do chor ar bith. Leanann an clár seo coimhlint epiceach Ashling go barr na camógaíochta – í ag teacht slán ar fhíor dhroch ghortú fisiciúil agus ar an dúlagar a chuir as go mór di.

Henry Shefflin

Bhí printíseacht mhall ag Henry Shefflin ach sheas sí leis, anois go ndeir go leor go mba é an t-iománaí ab fhearr riamh – deich mbonn Uile Éireann- níos mó ná éinne eile – agus scata mór gradaim Allstar. Ach lasmuigh dá chuid éachtaí ar na páirceanna imeartha, bhí níos mó i gceist le Henry agus tugann an clár seo léargas ar dhaonnocht dhraoi na hiomána.

Mickey Harte mickey-harte

Bunaitheoir na peile comhaimsearthaí, deirtear, ré stairiúil mar dhuine dena bainisteoirí peile ab éifeachtaí, saol pearsanta buailte ag tragóidí agus ag dúnmharú uafásach a iníne. Dhein Mickey Harte a rud féin, le corr chonspóid, ach níl aon laghdú tagtha ar a phaisean ná ar a spiorad don saol agus don gCLG.

Buíochas leis an tSlóivéin, tá deis iontach ag Éirinn dul chuig Corn an Domhain

Má bhuaileann Éire an Bhreatain Bheag beidh muid tríd chuig na cluichí cáillithe do Chorn an Domhain, a bhuíochas sin don tSlóivéin a bhuail an Albain 2-0.  Agus dár ndóigh ní bheidh Bale acu ach an oiread.

Is  nuacht iontach é seo roimh a gcluiche i gcoinne na Breataine Bige amárach. Dá mbeadh an lá le Albain sa tSlóivéin, bheadh Éire ag brath ar thorthaí eile chun deis a bheith acu a bheith san iomaíocht sna cluiche cáillithe.

Mar a deir O’Neill ‘Lets go for it’

Féach Anois ar Baile Átha Cliath ag Ceiliúradh

Tá Craobh na hÉireann ag Baile Átha Cliath arís.  Ní minic a éiríonn le foireann trí cíonn i ndiaidh a cheile a fháil. Is i 1921 a rinnie B.A.C é go déanach.  Is éacht é agus sna blianta amach romhainn a bheidh an tuiscint cheart againn ar an méid atá bainte amach acu.

Bhí an bua acu i 28 uair amach as 31 cluiche sa gcraobh.  Cá bfhios an mbeidh craobh eile acu i 2018?

7 questions to be answered on the Sunday Game All Ireland Football Final Preview.

Looking ahead to the eagerly anticipated 2017 All Ireland Football Final Preview on the SundayGame at 9.30pm on RTE2, we predict what may be debated……

1. The Dubs are unbeatable, no-one, even Mayo on their best day can beat them, they are on another level, they will blow Mayo away with their physicality, they have two teams, they have cruised to the final in second gear, three in a row. You get what we mean?

2. The Curse: The Curse of 1951 will rear its ugly head, the hopeless Mayo haven’t a prayer against the blue crusaders. Playing a record of 9 games to get here, the goose is certainly cooked. But will Mayo be able to pull off one of the biggest upsets in GAA history?
4. Where will Aidan O’Shea play? Given the recent games, it is difficult to predict where the dynamic giant will play. Perhaps in goal?

aidan-oshea.jpg
5.Tactics: Rochford vs Gavin: Given the risky decision to change the Mayo goalkeeper in the replay of last year’s final, Rochford’s tactics have been under question. Will he make a similar brave decision again this year? Focusing on Dublin, will Gavin start the enigmatic Diarmuid Connolly? Its excitement galore, we will see what our Sunday Game experts think! #BelieveinInShteevin
6.Last Year’s Final and Replay Expect the discussion to be dominated by last year’s meetings, the black cards, the scraps, the two own goals, #ThingsLeeDid

7. Substitutions – Dublin’s 21 man team and Mayo super subs!

And they’ll finish off by going for the Dubs but that Mayo could cause an upset.  So we’ll be right back where we started with the discussion.

Kevin Kilbane made his Irish debut 20 years ago this month.

Kevin Kilbane made his Irish debut 20 years ago this month.

Kevin Kilbane played 612 club games and 110 games for the Republic of Ireland. He got his first cap while Mick McCarthy was the manager and would go on to play under Brian Kerr, Steve Staunton, and Giovanni Trapattoni.

Having made 300 Premier League appearances there was no doubt about his ability and quality.

He was raised in England his parents coming from Mayo and Longford.  He was called up to the England u-18 squad but refused the invitation as he had always wanted to represent Ireland.

Making his debut against Iceland on 6th September 1997 he would go on to play 110 times and become a fan favorite.

He is now equally successful off the field as a pundit for Match of the Day and Newstalk amongst many others.
